Temple and an Emergency Phone Call Home

Dec. 18th 2017
Well another week down in the books. We’ve had kinda an everywhere week.

On Tuesday we had our Christmas party and our zone leaders came down to do exchanges with us. So that was a blast.  We went and visited a cranky old guy and talked to a nice old lady who wasn’t interested in the gospel but was interested in just talking.  So we talked for a bit with her and it was fun.  We were trying as hard as we could to steer the conversation towards the gospel but she wouldn’t have it.  Oh well what do you do.

Our Christmas party was a blast as well!  And Elder Jacklin didn’t spill any chili!! So that’s definitely a plus haha.  Then Wednesday was our last district meeting so we had an awesome little testimony meeting and it was great!  We had a lesson with Sarrah as well and it was pretty good.  No complaints here.  The spirit was there and it was great!  She’s way awesome and I hope she’s able to keep progressing.  Then Thursday we helped a member staple some wire over a window so her horses don’t break it because that would not be good at all!  So we helped her out with that which was actually pretty fun.  Then it was our planning day so we just did a ton of planning.

Friday we got to go to the freaking temple!  That was like the best thing ever and definitely needed!  Oh man it had been way too long since the last time I’ve been and I just was spiritually fed and learned soooo much about the gospel and the creation.  Couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my Friday.

Then on Saturday we had a day full of lessons with people.  It was awesome!  We were able to go over the Savior’s life with Sarrah and then talk about the gospel of Jesus Christ with K’leigh.  So that was awesome!  Then Sunday we had church which was freaking great.  We found out transfer news and I’m going to Powell, Wyoming on Wednesday and I’m excited but I’m sad to leave Dillon.  I’ll be forever grateful for the time I had to spend here.  Then after church we had a lesson with Kia and that was awesome!  She just really needs a testimony of the Book of Mormon before she can progress and so that’s what we always end up talking about even though we have other things planned.  Crazy how the spirit works!

So on Saturday night I got a phone call from my mission president and I thought I was in trouble at first but then as I talked to him I realized that wasn’t the case.  The past little bit my grandpa hadn’t been doing the best and it took a turn for the worst.  So I was given permission to call home and talk to him and my family.  It was the weirdest feeling and reminded me so much of the life of Christ and when his friend Lazarus died.  He knew he could bring him back from the dead and he knew perfectly about the plan of salvation.  Yet still the scriptures say, “Jesus wept.”  The sting of death is real and it was rough for me to see him like that.  I know about the plan of God and I teach about it regularly but I still felt that sting.  And it wouldn’t go away, until I talked to my brother.  We were able to connect and talk about that plan that God has for all of us, even our grandpa.  I left that conversation with a deeper love for our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.  The plan of salvation is real.  There is so much more after this life and there is so much that God has planned for all of us!  I love this gospel so much and the peace it brings.  And I’m so thankful for families and the blessing they are to us.

For the most part it’s been a good week full of ups and downs but I’m thankful for the blessings I’ve been given in my life and the blessings I receive each day!  One of those blessings was being able to tell my grandpa I was getting transferred to Powell WY.  My grandpa has been hoping I would end up in the area he grew up in which is Lovell.  That's 30 minutes from Powell.  His face lit up when I told him and he told me to go get those cowboys.  Sure do love that guy.

When we take time to think about it and look around we have so much to be thankful for.  Love you all!!

Love,
