Barfing... Baptism... Birthday Extravaganza!

Hey all this week started out pretty interesting.

Elder Apaui and myself
We started with exchanges on Monday so I went with Elder Apaui (A-paw-oo-E)… you’re welcome haha.  I went with him in his area and we got a bit of a late start after the normal P-Day stuff.  Plus we accidentally locked the keys in the church so that was funJ.  Anyway, so we finally got to Sheridan to our dinner appointment and they fed us some really good breakfast for dinner; literally favorite thing ever!  Then after dinner we tried like 2 or so people but couldn’t do much because we had to go in for the night.

In the middle of the night I wake up and have an exorcist moment where I go to the bathroom at about 1 in the morning and puke my guts out and I accidentally get it all over the floor.  Of course once I’m done I have to clean it up and what not and go back to bed.  Then I wake up again and repeat the previous experience except this time I actually made it to the toilet.  So I was thinking I was done after this last experience… sadly I was wrong.  I wake up in the morning and I still feel like trash.  I lay there, almost dying from the inside when it hits me once again!!  I hurry to the bathroom and just let everything go.  After this go around I felt much better!!

Now it’s time to take this experience and put a gospel swing on itJ  I’m pretty sure I got sick because I ate something earlier before exchanges that had gone bad but I didn’t realize it.  Because of this I paid the price.  And just like that sometimes we take things into our bodies and our mind that are bad or shouldn’t be there and it’s not an easy thing to get rid of.  So just like my body’s immune system worked we also have an immune system for our souls when we take in sin or that bad stuff and it’s the atonement of Jesus Christ.  When we use that atonement of Jesus Christ we’re able to get rid of that sin from our soul.  Is it the easiest thing ever??  Not by a long shot.  Just like when I was puking it wasn’t easy at all.  It would have been a whole lot nicer if it just magically teleported outside my body.  The atonement is the same way and it’s not easy but it’s worth it.  And sometimes we have to go through it a few times till we truly feel better but I can promise that we will feel better afterwards!!  So yeah anyway because of me getting sick I had to stay in on Tuesday.  I didn’t want to risk puking on a doorstep haha.

I had a purpose to going to Sheridan!! I had a baptismal interview to take care of!!  So rain or shine I was going to make that happen!!  And it was so awesome!!  She was so ready for baptism!!  Afterwards we went to dinner at a local restaurant and I still wasn’t feeling 100 so I order a grilled cheese and fries.  Well I’m about halfway when I look up at Elder Apaui and say “I think I’m gonna throw up...” to which he responds, “well then go to the bathroom!”  I sat and contemplated his advice and decided that it was some solid advice so I stood up and speed walked to the bathroom.  Luckily I didn’t puke but I came out of the bathroom and we decided to leave and go back to the apartment.  So that finished up our Tuesday.

Wednesday we had our district meeting and it was pretty sweet!!  We learned about using family history in our teaching which is something I was way grateful to learn because I knew like nothing as to how we could use that... so I learned a lot.  After that we got back with our usual comps.  All in all a real solid exchange… except for that sickness situation.

Then we had a lesson with our investigator Kia and she’s making some huge steps towards the gospel and learning the truth for herself!!  It was so awesome!!  We taught her the plan of salvation and had a diagram of how it worked so we set it up and explained it all and it was super great.  After that we did some service at this gym in town that a member works at and so we just helped by cleaning up around it.  As always the service was pretty fun!!  Elder Jacklin got to wear one of those backpack vacuums and it was pretty sweet looking.  He looked like a ghostbuster or something and I was bummed because we both didn’t have our cameras with us so we weren’t able to snag a pic… such a bummer.

Then that night we had Chelsea’s interview and she passed with flying colors!!  It was sweet!!  After that the ZLs stayed the night with us and man, Elder Brown is a goofball hahahahaha!  He was making farting noises with his armpit and showing us magic it was so awesome!!

Then Thursday we had to run to Butte for our car to get some service done so we were kind of stuck in Butte for a while and nothing really noteworthy happened there... after we got back we had a lesson with our investigator K’leigh and it was awesome!!  We took a kid who is going to the MTC this Wednesday and kind of showed him the ropes.  It was really awesome!!  Then later that night we had a lesson with Sarrah and her mom was there and so we taught her and her mom with the help of quite a few members.  It was super great!!  Kind of nerve racking having 2 RMs there but hey what do ya do??

Chelsea and me
On Friday we get a random call to help this dude move so we go over and helped them out with the heavy stuff.  We helped as much as we could and then we got stuff all ready and lined up for the baptism we had on Saturday so that there wasn’t any hiccups.  We printed off the program and got all that done before hand.  Then we had our dinner in Lima with an investigator; so we went over and taught the plan of salvation.  Our focus was on our investigator.  He dropped getting the discussions before because the missionaries were too pushy, so we’ve tried being a bit chiller. But in this lesson we decided that we would be a little bit pushy.  And so we did and I think it really gave him a lot to think about as far as why he’s here and what he needs to do.  Hopefully he realizes that we care about him.

Then Saturday was like the best day ever.  So we filled up the font and made sure everything was ship shape in preparation.  Chelsea was baptized Saturday night and it was so awesome!!  Everything came together super well.  There wasn’t any hiccups and the spirit that was there was amazing and I’m so thankful for the experience I was given to perform the baptism.  It was such an honor, I can’t adequately describe.  It was amazing because as she came out of the water the whole room was full of the spirit.  It was super awesome!!  Best birthday ever!!  Then we went to the Bishops house and they sang happy birthday and it was super great.

I also got my birthday package and as usual it was amazing!! I was blown away with the letters I received.  It was awesome!!  I opened part of it but the other part has to wait until we are together as a district so stay tuned.

On Sunday it was so cool because Chelsea was confirmed a member and given the gift of the Holy Ghost.  It has been such an amazing experience to be able to see her from the beginning up to this point and the change that the gospel has brought into her life.  Gotta love it.

Later that night there was a youth fireside we were asked to attend.  It might have been the greatest thing I’ve ever been too haha!!!  It was a fireside on dating and it was awesome!!  There was all these different opinions on different things, but the two things that made me laugh the most was first, one of the guys said that holding hands was a sin and that kissing would always lead to sexual transgression... yeeeeaaaaah hahahahaha!!!  I thought it was pretty funny and then the second thing was they were talking about how their spouse purposed to them and one of the panel members was black and he leans back on this question and says to his wife, “go on, tell ‘em how big daddy did it.”  I was on the floor laughing!!  It was the greatest thing ever!!  Hahahahaha it was so awesome!!  I loved it!

The awesome letters!
Well that was my week ladies and gentleman and it was an amazing week!!  Started out a bit rough but I turned it into a positive and the week ended on a high note!!  So just remember there’s something positive in everything!!

Love ya!!

Love,
